The Ancient Magus' Bride

A manga adaptation of the The Ancient Magus’ Bride anime television series was serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine from October 2015 to September 2016. An anime television series adaptation was produced by A-1 Pictures and aired in Japan from April 6, 2017 to September 2, 2017. Funimation released the series in North America on Blu-ray and DVD on September 2, 2018.

The story follows Chise, a girl who is taken to a castle by a wizard named Elias. Elias tells her that she has been chosen to become the bride of a magus named Elias. Chise is hesitant to become Elias’s bride, but she eventually agrees to go along with it. Chise soon learns that she is not the only one who has been chosen to become Elias’s bride. There is another girl named Charlotte who has been brought to the castle as well. Chise and Charlotte start to become friends and Chise starts to learn more about her situation. Chise also learns that she is not the only one who is running from something. Elias is also running from something and Chise starts to suspect that he is not really a magus. Chise and Elias start to become closer and Chise starts to learn more about Elias and his past. Chise also starts to learn more about her own powers and the reasons why she was chosen to become Elias’s bride. Chise and Elias face many challenges while trying to escape the castle and Chise eventually learns the truth about her and Elias’s relationship.
